How to Clear Your Browser Cache
Clearing your browser cache can fix loading issues, display updated content, and improve performance when using web applications such as InspectU and TrainU
This article explains how to clear cached files in the most common web browsers, including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari.
Quick shortcut for Windows browsers
In most Windows browsers, including Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Delete opens the window for clearing browsing data.
- Open your browser.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete.
- Choose a time range of All time or Everything.
- Make sure Cached images and files or Cache is selected.
- Click Clear data or Clear now.
- Open Google Chrome.
- Click the three dots in the top-right corner.
- Select More tools and then Clear browsing data.
- Set Time range to All time.
- Select Cached images and files.
- Optionally select Cookies and other site data if a full refresh is needed.
- Click Clear data.
- Close and reopen Chrome before signing back in.
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click the three dots in the top-right corner.
- Click Settings.
- Go to Privacy, search, and services.
- Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
- Set the time range to All time.
- Select Cached images and files.
- Optionally select Cookies and other site data if needed.
- Click Clear now.
- Close and reopen Edge before trying again.
- Open Firefox.
- Click the menu button in the top-right corner.
- Click History.
- Select Clear recent history.
- In Time range to clear, choose Everything.
- Make sure Cache or Temporary cached files and pages is selected.
- Optionally select Cookies and other site data if needed.
- Click Clear now or OK.
- Close and reopen Firefox before signing back in.
- Open Safari.
- In the top menu, click Safari and then Settings or Preferences.
- Click the Privacy tab.
- Click Manage Website Data.
- Click Remove All, then confirm by clicking Remove Now.
An alternative option is to click Safari and then Clear History, choose all history, and confirm the action.
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap Safari.
- Tap Clear History and Website Data.
- Confirm by tapping Clear History and Data.
After clearing the cache, close all browser windows, reopen the browser, sign back into the application, and test again.
If the issue continues, additional troubleshooting may be needed, such as clearing cookies, disabling extensions, or trying another browser.
