How to Create Your First Inspection
Creating an inspection in InspectU takes just a few steps. Before you start, you’ll want to know which audit type you’re running and which location or area you’re targeting.
- Log in to InspectU and go to the Inspections section from your dashboard.
- Go to Templates and select the audit template you want to use — for example, Safety Audit, Quality Audit, or a Custom template your team has set up.
- Fill in the inspection header: site name, date, auditor name, and the area or shift being audited.
- Work through the questions. Answer Yes, No, or N/A based on what you actually observe — not what you think or hope is happening.
- Attach photos to any question where you see an issue. A photo is worth more than a written note.
- Log any issue in the corrective action section. Assign it to a person and set a due date.
- Submit the inspection when complete. The record is saved and available for review immediately.
Tips for Your First Inspection
- Answer every question based on direct observation. Walk to the area. Look at the thing. Don’t guess.
- Use N/A honestly — it means the question doesn’t apply, not that you skipped it.
- Take photos liberally. Even a passing item can be documented with a photo for future reference.
- If you see an issue, log it right away. Don’t save it for the end — details fade.

What good looks like Your first completed inspection has every question answered, at least one photo attached, and any issues tied to a named person with a due date. If you have that, you’ve done it right. |
