What Are Action Items?
Action items are tasks created when an issue is identified during an inspection and requires follow-up. In InspectU, action items help ensure that problems discovered during inspections are assigned to the right person and resolved in a timely manner.
Action items are typically triggered when a response in an inspection indicates that a corrective action is required.
How Action Items Are Created
Action items can be generated directly from inspection responses.
Flag an Item for Corrective Action
When building an inspection template, certain responses can be configured to require corrective action. For example, if a response such as “No,” “Fail,” or “Needs Attention” is selected, it can automatically trigger a follow-up task.
Automatic Task Creation
When an inspection is completed and a flagged response requires corrective action, InspectU will automatically create a task for follow-up.
Assign the Task
The task can then be assigned to the appropriate team member responsible for resolving the issue.
Set the Due Date and Details
Managers can add instructions, supporting files, or additional notes to help the assigned user resolve the issue.
Tracking Action Items
Once action items are created, they can be monitored in the Assignments or Tasks section of InspectU.
From there, managers can track:
Pending action items
Tasks currently in progress
Completed corrective actions
This helps teams stay organized and ensures that no issue identified during an inspection is overlooked.
Completing a Corrective Action
When the assigned team member completes the task, they can add completion notes or comments describing the resolution.
Once completed, these notes are automatically recorded in the Corrective Actions comment section of the original inspection, creating a clear record of how the issue was addressed.
Benefits of Action Items
Improved Accountability
Ensure every issue identified during inspections is assigned and resolved by the appropriate team member.
Clear Documentation
Maintain a complete record of issues and corrective actions directly within the inspection report.
Better Operational Oversight
Track follow-up tasks and ensure compliance issues are addressed quickly.
